Allstate paid me $26000 for my 9 month old STOCK 2000 Type-R with 10K miles.

So I have to say they treated me well

Although they are pricey. My uncle works for Allstate and his son got a cheaper rate with State Farm even though he got a discount from Allstate.

My experience with State Farm was great, UNTIL my car was stolen. Then they "investigated" me to see if I was responsible for the theft of my own car. They found a few parts of the car a week after it was stolen, and later found that every car in the garage was stolen. <rant> Not to sound egotistical, but they came to my office to interview me. It seemed pretty obvious to me that a computer engineer with his own office at a large tech company would have no need to steal his own car at a time when the technology market was still booming. </rant> My coverage gave me a rental car for one month. Three months after the theft of my car (to the day), they called me to finally discuss the payout for my car. Any time I pushed them before that day, they would say, "we'll just have to wait until this investigation is finished..." Then they tried to give me the value of a GSR for my Type R. After a day of negotiating, they gave me a fair value for the cost of my car. (I was not paid anything to make up for the 2 1/2 months I went without any rental payments, or a check from them)

Besides that, I thought the rates were fair, and the agents were very friendly to deal with. Insurance claims appear to go through a different part of the company, instead of the agents themsleves...

Yes, State Farm has a network of claims centers and claims reps that handle stuff like this. I, too, have found their service to be less that satisfactory at times, and my mom is an agent. Always gets them scared when they ask me who my agent is

Right now, they are attempting to handle a lot of their claims via a centralized 800 number. Do not let them do this to you!! Ask that a local claims rep handle your business. I had one of the phone reps shout at me, and call my mother's secretary a "dumb bitch." To her, no less. Needless to say, I wrote a letter to the VP of State Farm, which my mother also signed. I do not believe he works at the company any longer.

State Farm would not accept me because I have too many tickets.

Allstate is treating me well.

Full coverage on the Integra and bare minimum coverage on my 92 CX and it's $190.00 a month.

Single 21 year old with a shitload of traffic violations and tickets.

One of my friends is 30 and his insurance on his 92 CX is $34.00 a month!
I can't wait til I get that old.
No wait, maybe I can.

I have AllState and they treated me fair as well when my car was recently vandalized. Many performance parts where stolen and they paid for it all, no questions asked about the turbo, etc.

mike k, how did you get such a good rate from allstate? damn . . .

i was the 'bad experience with allstate' in the poll above. i rolled my '96 GSR a couple years ago, and it took them a MONTH to even LOOK at the car (it was definitely totalled, major frame and pillar damage), and then another 2 weeks to issue a check. so, 6 weeks in all. that's inexcusable.

am i bitter?

progressive has been great, i've made two very small claims and i've had agent inspections and checks within 2 days of the incident. and, although they are the cheapest for me, i'm still getting bent over pretty badly ($2700/year for a 22 year old male, single, ITR and a beater, full coverage on the R and nothing on the beater, 1 speeding ticket and 1 no-fault accident).

****, my monthly insurance payment is half of my car payment! this is ridiculous . . .

Nationwide for me too, and they have been great so far. I was in an accident a couple years ago too and they really took care of me. Full coverage on both cars, the Prelude is about $600/6 months and the Civic is about $350/6 months. That's with two speeding tickets. The trick is staying on my parents policy, I had to put my Prelude's title in my dad's name so we could insure it as his. But yeah, Nationwide has been great so far.

I have had Geico, Progressive and Allstate:

Gieco is cheap, except in certain areas on NYC. No problem with claims.

Progressive starts cheap but increases with claims.

Allstate is the cheapest so far, I haven't had any claims with them.

Advice: Don't live in NYC with a ITR. I insure two cars 1990 Miata and a 2000 ITR and I pay almost $3200 a year ! Lets just say, I do non-eating fasts not only for religious reasons !!
