IF your going to take out the whole thing including the evaporator its alot of work.. but just the compressor and condenser and lines its not that hard.

make sure you evacuate your ac system first.. you can call around to shops to see if they will do it for free since your going to give them Refergerant which they make $$$ off.

I just did this on monday. Its fairly simple. I just realeased the coolant into the air , then just pull off all the lines and unbolt the compresor and condensor fan, etc. I took out everything except the evaporator because it doesn't really save any weight and you have to replace it with a heating duct anyways. Make sure you don't take out your ac compressor mount though like I did. It also serves as a main torque mount. My engine hopped all over the place until I replaced it

get a helms manual. The evaporator is under your glovebox inside your car...i wouldn't worry about taking it out. Its not heavy and you'll have to replace it with a heating duct anyways. The condensor is that beer can looking thing by your driver side headlight and the compressor is that big metal box thing towards the bottom of your engine block.

Just wondering, for all you guys without ac, what is the best way to defog your windows? Every morning here I can't see through my windows. Just leave the windows down and freeze?

so if you take out the compressor, does any air flow throught your vents at all? either on heat or cool.

the heater core is a totally different system than the a/c. there is a fan in the dash which blows air from the heater core, not related to the compressor.
