Should I be worried about this shit froming on my sleeves!!????
I left my block in the garage for like a week, and I got rust on the sleeve walls and some dirt spots on the coolant passages. The dirty spots won't even some of with brake cleaner and steel wool. Should I just leave it alone till I'm ready to do a bore, hone and deck or is this a serious problem???
If you're going to bored it out, then it shouldn't be a problem. When not working on your block, you should put some oil on the cyclinder wall and put the block in a garbage bag...it'll stay clean and oxidation-free.
I would just take some ATF or oil on a rag and just go over everything so it doesnt for anymore rust...that is just surface rust..nothing to get worried about since you say you are going to get it bored and honed

call adam and ask him. I think you should be fine. just spray it down with wd-40 for now. after you get it bored/honed, it should be good.

When the bore and hone the cylinders your machinist SHOULD hot tank it-- this should get all that dirt out of the coolant passages!

Right after I saw the rust I cleaned it off with steel wool and WD-40, then I tried brake cleaner and steel wool and nothing will take off the dirt spots in the coolant galley. What do u guys think it is?? It dosn't look like rust. And the block has been in a plastic bag sprayed with WD40 for a few days now. Thanx

true bare iron rusts in a matter of hours, anytime you have bare iron exposed to the atmosphere it will rust, since there's always oxygen (duh) in the atmosphere....... so basically you want to keep it covered... i recommend this stuff called dura-lube if you can still find it anywhere, wd-40 if not, and always wrap it in a bag, to keep as much moisture out as you can
