Default For those with porterfield brake pads...

i swapped my fronts pads last night (listening to the radio the whole time...NPR was nice change from the networks, much more intelligent coverage)...anyway, the pads didn't have those metal tabs that stick out from two of the four stock pads...everything works fine and they're broken in now, but i was wondering what these tabs are for. Thanks in advance!

those are the "squeal" tabs, which lets j00 know that the pads are getting low.

They are depth indicators... not needed with off-road pads.

They will make noise when touching the rotor..

Thanks, that's kinda what i thought, but then i'd heard the squealers were a different compound buried in the pad. As long as they're not holding that pad in somehow. Thanks for quick answers, as always!
