Default Turbo S2K

Ok guys....need some input here....

heres the setup:

AEM EMS, PT61, Rods, pistons, sleeves....blah blah...all the good stuff...

We have tuned it so far to 15psi and only 7K rpm....we are at 360whp and 290fttq....It seems this engine style (F20C) only likes 6K and up...the turbo spools very slowly and hits full boost at 6.2K. This turbo size for us is rather small on on most of our B-series stuff but any way it seems to us that the S2K is a high high revving engine. Is this correct? Anyone with a turbo on their car please tell me this is about correct before we go with more boost and rpm....And at what power levels does the trans and rear start to break...Im sure anything above 350whp things can get broken but this car is on the dyno to hit 500+(and this is only for a dyno number, the car will never see this on the track or street).

Thanks guys

Howard

Is your manifold and exhaust system large enough? That could substantially limit spool time. Other than that, juice her alittle, always helps lag.

Howard,

Assuming you know your turbo trim specs well, you should be able to calculate when that turbo will peak on the F20C. Again, it's only a 2 liter 4 cylinder.

In terms of things breaking, the rear end breaks due to shock, not sheer torque or hp. The clutch is the first weak link in the system, I'm also assuming you've upgraded that system. The tranny holds up to power and torque, but again not to shock. As long as shock isn't induced into the system, all will be well.

Thanks...thats the info im looking for....I was just looking for the characteristics of the F20. I did some more tuning today and it seems to like the AFR around 12.8 instead of our normal 12.2 conservative tune...that brought the spooling time up a touch. We are at 380whp at 15psi at 8900 so far....the AFR is 12.3 just past 7500 so im gonna lean it a touch more to get the graph a little smoother. Its a little bit rough past 7500....plugs are looking a little rich so itll be alright. Im hoping after tomm. morning session I'll be able to bring the car to 400whp at 15psi with a little more timing. Then it will be off to 20psi....500whp territory...Im not sure if the clutch was updated, im sure it is...I'll ask the engine builder if they did that or not. BTW we are on pump gas at 380whp also......
