What size exhaust piping works best with a LS / Turbo setup?

2.5 " or 3 "..

 

The bigger the better on any turbo. Turbos spin off pressure differential from one side to the other, less restriction on the exhaust side will allow the turbine to spin up sooner and make more power.

 

Everyone seems to have gotten great gains going from 2.5 to 3. I am going to try a 3.5 this week.

 

My new car is getting a 3" dp and I'm going to attempt 4" exhaust.

 

I am going to be going with a full custom 2.5 inch exhaust. I don't plan on making much more than 200 whp on my d16z6 so I really have no need to go any bigger.

Are you just trying to out do me? Hahahahah J/K. I just figured 3" is the norm so 3.5 might be just that much better. I am not sure if 4 will fit?

So if your going to be making less than 200 whp, is 3 " overkill?

 

3.5" downpipe to a 4" with a side downturn exit in front of the pass. rear wheel.
Hopefully it won't be too loud, planning a 4" bullet muffler for a reasonator and a 4" Dynomax Ultraflow 6" can for a muffler.

 

I was always under the impression that no matter how many HP you planning on, if you are going Turbo the less back pressure the better!

 

I wonder if 5 inch downpipe will fit

 

2.5" or bigger most likely your AC and PS is gone. thats why most people in the sub 300whp range stick w/ 2.5". it has enough flow and lacks enough back pressure for the turbo to spool nicely but isnt over kill. 2.5" is fine for any daily driving turbo....if you want the best combo for a daily driver sub 300whp car i would do a 2.5" DP (allows keeping a/c and ps easy) and then do 3" from the cat back...w/ a high flow cat, or a hollowed out cat.....either or...

 

why even run a dp..
