Very open ended question, thats why you'll get little help.

What kind of setup will you be running? Who is building the motor? Lots of factors to determine if an ls/vtec motor will be reliable.

okay...i'll help you out here, most LS/Vtec motors tend to leak at the head gasket because of the drilling of the dowel pins(causes slight shift of the head/block alignment). if you want to build it yourself, and do not want to deal with the hassel of drilling the pins, IM FFgeoff, he came up with some dowel pins that drop right into an ls/b20 block and you can slap a vtec head on without drilling the vtec head. kinda makes it plug and play kinda...with the exception of tapping and plugging the original vtec oil ports.

and if built properly, will last just as long as any motor, boosted or not boosted.

Some of you obviously do not know what you're talking about or had a bad experience with lsvtec. I've had my LSVtec (91 LS block, 97 GSR head) since December, over 18,000 miles, doesnt leak or burn oil, daily driver and over 20 AutoX events. 11.7 cr, 201 whp, 137 torque. Find a good engine builder and no shortcuts.

exactly. just don't use a 9/16" drill bit when drilling the dowel pin holes.

hahaha... who the hell did that? also, i wouldn't say something that has been holding up for 18000 miles is necessarily all that reliable. thats only six oil changes... id say at least 40k with no major problems is enough to be considered reliable. but thats just me, whatever.
