I/H/E setup + OBDII...what are my options?
ok, right now thw only mod my 1996 VTEC Prelude has is an AEM CAI. I plan on getting the RS-R catback system and the SMSP header in the future once i save a little $. now i want to get the most from these mods and im guessing that wont be possible with an OBDII ECU. So the best thing to do would be to get an OBDI P13 ECU right? are the USDM ones hard to find? because i see the JDM P13's all over EBAY but no USDM p13's. So would it do just as well to get a JDM OBDI P13? Lookin for some recommendations here...thanks

i didn't think you had to get a new ecu,
don't they make a harness for an obdII to obdI conversion.

the new harness lets you run the obd1 ecu

i believe its at 114 mph or somewhere around there. Also using the jdm ecu would mean it was tuned for the higher compression, it would work but i think you would be better off with the usdm ecu.
However i'm not speaking from experience just speculating so......

That is the biggest misconception, and it is just not true. Get yourself a VAFC, get it tuned, cut the memory wire for the ecu (or wire in a switch, ala OBDII workaround), and you'll be fine. There's no point in doing an OBDI swap unless you are going hondata/uberdata or getting an ecu chipped specifically for your setup.
