Default Sad return to H-T (car got owned)

Ok, after being gone from H-T for over a year I'm back....because my car is very much screwed over.

Basically, I'm sitting here with a 96 ex coupe with more damage on it than its worth. Would need about $4000 to get the body back in shape. The timing belt jumped a notch on the camshaft gear while at high rpm and under heavy load and as far as I know, at least the valves are trashed. No clue what shape the pistons are in.

So right now I'm thinking about getting a hatchback that will be nice and cheap for now but have potential for the future... any suggestions?

Sounds like you've had some bad luck

I say pick up a 92-95 Si at a decent price and call it a day.

OIC you only want us when u need us???? j/p.... so what exactly happened you got in a accident? you said nothing about that part u just said the timing belt skipped a tooth. give us the whole story. and if your looking for something cheap i would go with a crx or ef hatch...then can get you around. i used to have a crx and i loved it.

So you don't have insurance? How much are you looking to spend on the next car?

Yeah, a lady in an old minivan made a right turn from the left lane...took out my drivers door, mirror, left front fender, left headlight, bumper, and hood. Also have about $1200 damage on the passenger side from a hit and run a year ago.

Basically, I was spending way too much of my life here so I needed to take a little break.

Now I really just need something that will get me around town, but that I can really whip into shape later on.

I have insurance, but that will only pay for $600 (I have a high deductible right now). I'd kinda like to keep it under about $7000-8000 for the next one. Would be even nicer to spend less on the car itself to have a little left over for some work on the suspension...
