Vortech FMU 12:1 - TOO Much fuel?? for Stock Injectors and 5-7psi boost?
I pieced together a custom turbo kit. I'll be running a T3 turbo boosting 5psi most of the time on my b16a. i might up it to 7psi occasionally. Anyway, for fuel, I got a Bosch Inline Fuel Pump and a Vortech FMU 12:1 and a B&M FPR (STOCK injectors). I was told the 12:1 maybe too much fuel for such a low boost application. i would be throwing an extra 60lbs of fuel at only 5psi...
so... what disk would be optimal for my setup? i was thinking 8:1. anyone wanna help me out? i found a 8:1 recalibration disc for only $20. Thanks!!

hmm... 8 x 5 = 40 psi over stock... 10 x 5 = 50 psi over stock... 40's not enuff? anyone else... how much are you boosting anyway? remember, this is low boost application... drag includes the 12:1 with their setup, but tha'ts boosting at 7psi rite?
the idea behind the FMU is that it raises FP in proportion to boost. aka, you get enough fuel at ALL times. If drag uses a 12:1, then it does not matter what boost level you are at (theoretically), it supplies the right amount of fuel. 12:1 is safe/a bit rich, 10:1 is probably closer to what the motor wants.... but you run the risk of leaning out.

yes. i know that about the growing fuel rate. i'm just saying... ususally ppl dont' blow they're motors at 1 or 2 lbs of boost... even then the fmu is only adding like 10lbs or fuel or so... but at 5 psi... which is what i'm gonna be boosting, that's where i'll be running most of the time when racing... so that's why i used those math numbers (ie 8x5=40)
anyway..... so u also agree 8:1 and stock injectors would be too little fuel?

I too was told to go with an 8:1 ration on my FMU. I'm currently usuing an H22A fuel pump and stock injectors on my 98 Civic EX, and I keep running really lean past 5.5psi. I'm adding a 255lph BBK fuel pump and I was told that lowering my FMU ratio would make it easier to supply the needed fuel without overburdening the system. I would likw to know however where to find th enew discs needed to change the ratio for my Vortech FMU, so if anybody knows a good place to find them, please let me know, thanks.

your problem is your fuel pump. You need a high pressure pump like a Bosch. those intank ones cant cut it.
so basically... rc310s and a 8:1 fmu is better than using the stock injectors and 12:1 fmu?
