Default Can a new clutch disc be put on an old clutch pressure plate?

I have a clutchmasters stage 4 and its fried. I want the stage 3 HDTZ next.

But rather than spending $500 again can I just buy a seperate disc and use the same pressure plate if its in good condition?

I dont know about clutchmasters but ACT has high performance and race discs sold seperately from the pressure plate and are only $100 and $150 respectively. Do they fit on clutchmasters pressure plate?

Im asking because I want to save money for a quaife.

yes you can use a different disc with a different pp but just make sure that the thickness of the pp is ok and not too thin. other than that it is fine to do from all my experiences.

I emailed clutchmasters to see if they sell their discs seperately and if their stage 3 HDTZ disc or an ACT disc fit on my stage 4 pressure plate. I think all their pressure plates are the same though. Ill wait for their email and report back.

all pressure plates fit the same, give or take...but there are some pretty obvious differences in the quality of production.

Assuming your PP is in good shape it will be fine, just clean the surface. You also NEED to check it and make sure it's square/in spec with a flat bar and a feeler gauge.

OK i spoke to clutchmasters tech and FAWK! He gave some conflicting answers!

At first he said they sold the disc seperately ($200 and change) but that I was wasting my money if I didnt buy the pressure plate with the disc together.

Why if I have a stage 4 PP I asked?

Then he said the stage 4 PP can only be used with Stage 4 disc.

I said huh?

He said well the stage 4 PP applys more pressure than a stage 3 PP and it may not be in good condition or work the same as a new one.

Then I said how do I know one way or the other?

Finally he said I could use it with stage 3 and to send it out to them to check it out and refreshen it.

Sorry but more confused than i started.
