Default what can a 99ex with greddy turbo kit rev to?

my friend just got his 99ex sohc greddy turbo kit installed and is boosting around .07 bar on a stock motor. The stock motor is rated at 127@6600 rpms or so..so would the ideal rpm be 6600 or can he go further? Btw the turbo doesnt drop from 5300 to 7500+. haven't tried reving it past 7500...So does anyone know what Rpm he can rev safely to?

I think his able to turbo to the redline of the motor with boost, and the boost should hold til redline. But im not sure as im not a turbo guy. I had a friend whose RX7 would redline to 8000rpm holding the boost from 5k til 8k, if that helps any.

The aid of a turbo does not change the redline of the car, the parts are no different than stock unless he decides to upgrade the head of the car.

yep. why did you think putting more load on the pistons would magically make the valves be able to keep up at a higher rpm ? and the redline for that engine is not 6600 - thats just the peak hp; the redline is at 6800, fuel cutoff is at 7000. but remember the stock tach is usually off by about 200 rpm, so he could safely take it to 7000 (on the tach) without overworking the valvetrain.

Actually the redline is 7000 and fuel cutoff is between 7200-7300

Marauder, was this 6850 on the stock tach or an "accurate" reading source?? I know with my OBDII software on my laptop, my tach is about 300rpm higher than what the car is actually "seeing".

it doesnt matter how far the turbo will pull HIS INTERNALS CAN'T HANDLE THE HIGHER RPM SO STOP IT BEFORE YOU BLOW THE MOTOR. unless you upgrade the valve train nothing will make it safe to rev beyond the stock rev limit.
