Default dammit. timing belt snapped during freeway

god dammit. i was cruisin home from my gf's 15 miles away from home. bout 2 miles into the freeway while cruisin 70mph. i heard a pop, and my car felt weird. stepped on the pedal, got no power . damn, so i pulled over, popped the hood and wha-la. my belt has snapped! **** i just bought the belt 2 months ago, and put less than 500 miles on it. wtf! on top of that, AAA wont let me use my dad's membership cause he wasnt present at the time, so i ended up paying 80 bucks for the hook up and 5 bucks for every mile home, which came out to 155 dollas. anyone know what the possible reason for my belt to snap like that?

they make an aftermarket one. Power Enterprise makes a kevlar re-inforced belt. I put it on my car....very nice.

how old was your belt? are u pushing some power? do u have aftermarket cam gears?
my aem gears were defective twice which messed mine up.. wish i still had pics.. the gear discentigrated and ripped the belt to shreads

toda doesnt make **** for h series motors. PE makes a nice belt, but i dont recomend spending the money on the belt until you find the reason for snapping your old belt. does it look worn on one side of the belt as if it were trying to run itelf off the gears or into the head? is it a clean pop? did you find any rocks or the like in the timing cover? do you even run a timing cover? all of these questions need to be adressed,. once you figure out why it popped weather it be a faulty timing belt or a rock, and you fix the problem, then i recomend buying yourself a power enterprise belt.

if you tightened the belt too much it will cause premature failure. Sorry to read about that, hope it doesn't cost a arm and leg to fix.

going onto a freeway you must of been travelling at a decnetly high speed, timing belts snapping. I bet you must of bent a few valves my friend.

Sorry to say, timming belts snappinga t high speeds is cause for a head rebuilding, and even worse if youve damaged your crank because to your belt snapping.

Good Luck, i got my fingers crossed for you!

really tho? cause i have a auto tensioner and can the auto tensioner tighten too much? welll right now i too off the belt and dropped the motor a bit to work under the car. the belt was ripped in half the long way. how do i check for bent valves or a bad valve train? is it recommended to buy new springs and valves w/ retainers for my head? i dont plan to get high lift cams or anythin, i was planning to squeeze some nitrious instead.
