AEM Tuned CAI vs AEM Shorty on SOHC Edelbrock Manifold. +9.6mid +5peak
BOTH OF THESE ARE ON THE EDELBROCK INTAKE MANIFOLD
for those of you thinking a CAI and stock IM is better than a shorty and the Edlebrock manifold

This dyno is different than Edelbrocks dyno, that is why the numbers are different than my other posts.

You only gave me one chart poser.

No...the tuning part was making a new CAI. The ECU calibration is still completely stock. This was the graph at Edelbrock with the AEM short ram before going to AEM for the construction of the new CAI. The AEM will have the only cold air intake that fits and works with the Edelrbock PerformerX manifold. +5 whp with the intake manifold, +3 whp peak with the new CAI.

The fuel and ignition timing are also STOCK!!!
This is a true bolt on car!

Interesting dyno chart. Now the question is, how much will the AEM CAI cost? Will it be worth the extra few ponies considering that you can get a short ram for pretty cheap.
Also, how did AEM do the dyno testing? I came across an article a few days that makes me lose a little faith in their testing process.

I read that article in TPR a long while back. I actually don't think that you can test a car with the hood closed, like they did at TPR. They claim its more real world, but then most dynos pull the power run in third gear! Now, in third gear, a Honda Civic gets close up over 80 mph. You think that little fan most dynos use can simulate air rushing into the engine compartment at over 80 mph?

I don't know about the cost. That's up to AEM
Yes it is worth the few extra ponies!!! This extra power is over a Short ram already! Plus, the short ram and other CAIs don't mount properly with the new manifold....basically the only thing holding them on is the throttle body and the fact that the filter rests against the back of the headlight.
