loose control arm?....help?
sup guys,
my gf is trying to sell her 93 si hatch. the people want to take it to a mechanic cause it makes a rattling noise when it hits bumps. in advance the only mods it has are suspension techniques lower rear/front sway bars.
anyways, when i hit a bump when driving it sounds like a sound a roller coaster makes you know on its rail. and its coming from the left side. i cant pinpoint it. i jacked up the car, and did a quick look at all the bolts but they look fine. at first i thought it was a loose pedal, but not sure. maybe control arm. is there anyway to pinpoint it even further?
also the polyurethane bushings the sway bars come equipped with squeak like crazy on bumps is this normal? i spayed wd-40 on em once and it cured it for a bit. any other suggestions?
i dont want to spend the money to get it inspected. thanks

I don't know how to specifically cure that problem, but I do know a 3 people with coilovers on new civic si's that make a heckuva a lot of metal on metal type sound from the rear passenger wheel well. Sounds kinda like your problem maybe? Is your the front or rear?
I would suspect the shocks or the spring seats. But it is hard to say if you are not there in person.
As far as the bushings, I know most people goop up the bushings with lubricant before they install them, get them all nice and sloppy with lube. I'm not sure what the best stuff to use, but I suspect the wd40 isn't the way to go, washes away with water, maybe some kind of grease would be the best stuff to use, like bearing grease if it doesn't break down the polyurethane.
