Default compression

hows it going, im new to the board. i had a quick question. i have a b16a head on a b18c1 block, the block has been bored over .25 and i have oversized CTR pistons, i was wondering what the compression is? nobody seems to know. other information is that the head has not been milled and the head gasket is a stock one with all three layers. i think it might be in the 12's but i hope its in the 11's.
any info will help.

thanks junior

You have oversized CTR pistons? How do you get that?

yeah sorry .025 over, i thought my compression might be about there, right now im running 92, plus octane boost. i was just trying to get an exact number though.

i got my ctr pistons from spw. they were 320 with rings.

congradulations..yer in the 12ish range..i ran that exact same setup last year in my eg...too bad that **** blew up 753 miles later...seems the machine shop didnt bore out the block precisely and my cylinder walls went to honda heavan...u should run 94 minimum...and you know what..that ****** ran hard as **** the night it blew though..i was 2 cars behind my boys rx7TT all the way up to 150...and i was running a ls trans...good luck!

profile ek4 what did you have done to your set up. this is what i have done to mine
CTR intake cam, ITR exhaust cam, AEM cam gears, ITR intake manifold, light flywheel, ITR tranny, AEM cai, and my car is a cx thats been to jenny graig's.

im not too worried about the engine put together because it was done by some good people, the only thing i am worried about is the compression level, knocks, pings, stuff like that. so far i have gone 1700 miles and everything is well. also i am running a p72 ecu, is this the best ecu for the set up or should i get an rechipped one with a program more like a type r? thanks junior

well this was my last setup in my eg.....
gsr bottom with .25 over ctr pistons
b16a head with itr cams
i/e/h
xs engineering ecu..chipped to itr specs...5700 vtec...9200 rev
vafc...
act clutch and clutchmasters flywheel...

as for knocking or pinging....if you hear it...retard timing a bit...in my new setup...my cylinder compression is 285....way high..but still streetable..just make sure u run 94+octane....if you wanna see my new setup go to classifieds and look under high compression ek for sale...teddy

tiite set up, your compression is way higher than mine, have you had any problems with knocks and pings? thats sucks your selling your car cause scared someone will jack it. did you have any head work done to the b16a head or did you just not take it up to 9200, i heard you could take a stock b16a head up to 8500 and you would be ok, but i dont know about that one. im trying to build a good road race car, what do you do drag or road race?

nah..i dont experience any detonation of any sort...i usually run 94+octane with a bottle of octane booster...but i also run cam2(100+ octane) when i can on the weekends.....
yah it sucks that they stole my boys car...it will be featured in super street in a few months to follow...it's a 96 red ek fully built turbo ls..carbon fenders..the whole ****...thats why im selling...all my boys with hondas are gettin their cars fucked with...ive been followed home before...i dont even park my car at home anymore..if i drive it 2x a week..thats a lot....
i was basically trying to build a all motor 12 second 1.8 vtec motor thats daily driven...proving a point to all the non believers around here that swear you need a h22 to hit 12's....plus around here..there are no ek's running 12's all motor yet...i would love to road race but dont know the first thing bout it...hehe

but anyways..i've revved out the b16 head to 84-8600 safely....i heard also that it can withstand some serious rev's....but i never took it to 9200 cus that aint too smart...plus with no headwork or serious race cams..it aint making any power up top like that anyways.....

i think i might start putting 100 in it, do you put a full tank or just a couple of gallons? cause where i live 100 is like 4 dollars a gallon or something like that.
yeah i think you were well on your way of hitting 12's, i dont like h22a, good for straight line but thats it. i know a guy who has a daily driven 12 sec car, h22a, but fully gutted and cut, no ac or anything like that. i just want my car to be fast enough for me and i love this set up, poor man's type r, i think i will get some headwork done to it then ill be done with the motor. so what kind of car you going to get next?

yah....cam2 costs 4.39 a gallon round here for me but its worth it to me...****..my GTi VR6 costs 26 bucks to fill up...and yah..i fill my baby up once a week just go out whoopin on rice....
thanks for the compliment bout my setup..too bad im having a hard *** time selling it....i guess some people think its cheap to build a 98 hybrid thats gonna make over 200 whp when its fully tuned...oh well...and my asking price is too high...
what would i like to get next?????? something that no one wantst to steal...i would like to sell my hatchback and my 01 GTi VR6 and buy a big *** NAVIGATOR so i can run these theiving bastards over...hehe
if you ever need any help or got any questions feel free to drop me a email at
Pepperfiend@aol.com...love to help you out...later
