this is how the transmission looked as i closed it up, nothing got stuck, it slipped in the snap ring easily.
far as i know it should look like this when putting it back together???
obviously something aint right...
car is in first gear no matter where you shift into.....
1,2,3,4,5,reverse & neutral = first gear
no weird noise, no grinding, no other problems with transmission...
thanks for any help you can provide...it will obviously have to be taken apart again...

ill try once i tear down the transmission, but i move it up and down before i attached it and it was fine???
and i made sure the shaft bolt on the other inner side of the trans was lined up with the slot also,
i dont think it could be the shifter either since everything shifts ok, it just wont connect within the transmission???
anyone else with some imput would be most appreciated... thanks
also are the photos correct as to how it should look when you put things together?? maybe its suppose to be shifted to a different gear before closing it

Nah, it shouldn't matter what gear is selected when you close it up. Though you probably don't want to close it up and install it if it's questionable weather it will shift into all gears... Take it to a transmission shop that is familiar with your box for advice.
