Texas inspection...need to vent.
Okay, my car has a 3" aluminum intake piping with a rubber hose 3/8" runs from the valve cover to intake tube (so no breather filter which is illegal)...anyways, took the car in for inspection today...everything passed except that the 3" ALUMINUM pipe needs to be a rubber tube (like stock one)
....I swapped out the intake tube and passed the inspection but WTF ??? What kind of law is this sh*t??? AEM is aluminum pipe and is 50 state legal !!! Anyone has this problem before or was I just being screwed over by monkeys?? I'm in Houston, TX and the car is registered in Fortbend county thus do not need emission test like Harris county...Here is the contact info of the service station.

I think they might have been pulling you. Me nor a friend have never had problems with the AEM in Harris county. But there are some places that tend to not want to inspect your car if there is anything that looks aftermarket under the hood.
thats weird..i go to the texaco on hwy90 by the sugar factory. they just look and see if my lights are working and look at my engine a little bit to see if everything is fine and thats it.
I've heard of similar things happening, but never to me. I don't know if some of the shops are full of crap or if there really is a law that says the intake tube must be rubber. Actually, the trouble I've heard of is that they say the air filter must be enclosed. Nonsense!
If it is a law it's a damn silly one.

I went to one place and they told me it had to be a K&N filter. I went to another, and they didn't care about the intake; they just said as long as it had a filter it was fine. But they did bitch about hyperwhite turn signals and made me go out and change the bulbs to amber, but I figure that is better than re-installing the stock intake. Of course this place was in Garland so unless you feel like a 4 hour drive, this doesn't help you much haha

lots of cool places in H-town that aren't finicky about that stuff.
My teg is missing a front plate, tint is illegally dark. Passed emmissions with flying colors and that was that.
Wow, had no idea there were so many houston teggers here. We should have a meet or autoX or something.
