Default Anyone know if using itr valve springs create flat spots on spoon sports cams?

From what I have heard using itr valvetrain and spoon cams create flat spots on the spoon cams. Any truth to this? Any bad effects on the motor?

What was the explanation given by the source that you "heard" this from?

I dont know the reasoning or if true in past archived posts about spoon cames this was a rumor and that only spoon valve springs should be used

I've never heard that. I'd think the Spoon valvesprings would be stiffer than the stock ITR springs. [/confusion]

I've wondered about this too, in some of the archived posts about spoon cams a few people have reported this problem, seems a little strange though as lift is about the same as on Toda A's and I' ve not heard of the same problem with them. Maybe valve lash was set too tight or something?

I've heard of one person who this happened to. Forgot his name. Mr. Phan maybe.

Flat spotting is where the power does not go up or what?

quick reply... when I had spoon cams and springs, spoon springs were tested to be 30% stronger than itr springs. does this answer your Q?

Flast spotting is where the camshaft lobes actualy goes flat physically. Stiffer springs = harder to push the rocker arms down = more wear?

Yeah, I heard it from DP too.
