sprayed water in engine bay now car won't start???
i was degreasing my engine bay yesterday and i bagged up my filter and distributor. After i was done washing my car it started up fine i drove it around for a few minutes, then all of a sudden my car starts to lose power and then shuts off completely. So far i checked my plugs, wires, pulled the distributor cap off and check the rotor. I have no idea wat to check or wats wrong...has anyone had the same thing happen before?
Sounds more like you are hotwiring some electrical connections. Inspect your wiring harness, and dry out what needs it. Also check the fuse box, etc.
No chance of Hydro-locking methinks.

Make sure you check the cavity the spark plugs are installed to make sure there is no accumulation of water, I did this to myself once......
If your car is a GSR, it's most likely the plug cavity towards the passenger side as the plastic VTEC cover opens up to allow the plug wires to come in.

can anyone describe/post pictures of exactly what you're supposed to cover if you're going to spray down your engine and scrub her clean? distributor cap, plugs etc? thanks.

Check your alternator! I fried the one on my old CRX SiR by mistake 4 years ago while cleaning the engine bay with citrus cleaner.
Check for spark. Check for a loose connection at the dist. Check for blown fuses...

Yeah it has to be the alternator, cause when i was cleaning out my engine bay, my mind must been somewhere else, cause i almost sprayed my bay with out covering up my alternator. i cover it up with a couple of towels, and right when im done i start the car up and let it idle for a song or too.
yea i'm afraid it just may be the alternator...i checked the plugs, fuses, distributor is bone dry....there is just no spark. so i gotta find out if its the distributor or alternator...
Plugs and distributor dude!! let the car dry out...next time spray it with mist with the engine running...stay away from intake, oil dip stick, and anything electrical...just the block and head cover should do...
well its been a few days and car still won't start...anyone know how to tell if the ICM is working or not? and how much to replace it or even how much a distributor cost to replace.
its been a few days and my car still won't start. does anyone have any idea to check if the ICM in the distributor is working or not. Also how much do replacement distributors go for?
you can find a wide range of prices if you call around
when i did mine it was 20 for the rotor and 20 for the cap
I did find cheaper prices, but they were all special orders and i didnn't fele like waiting
open it up and look at it before you go get a new one
the conductive part of the rotor on mine was rusty

thanx for the help guys...the problem ended up being a bad ignition coil....cost me $40 for the part. I'm just glad i didn't have to replace the whole distributor.
