good reason to use ground control
i picked up ots ground controls for my 96 civic coupe back in 99 - it was one of the only adjustable coilovers available at the time. 100% trouble free for four years, uninstalled/reinstalled at each corner no less than two times (not by me) with no issue.
i was able to catch a sick deal on a set of used skunk coilovers, and snatched them up purely for their higher rate. while making the swap (by myself this time), i noticed that the upper urethane mounts i have don't look anything like the ones in the ads (the upside down top-hat looking ones). maybe they're the old style? it matters not, i want the new ones. i called ground control.
prior phone conversations with their staff have been informative, albeit short and sweet. i'm sure they get calls like 'what spring rate is this?' all the time. no prob.
on thursday, about 3:30pm pst i called, and daryl answered.
'i'd like to order urethane mounts for my honda civic.'
'ok. how many to you need?'
'well, how much are they'
'how many do you need?'
'uh, four. how much are they?'
'what's your address?'
bam. four mounts. shipped. free.
and they arrived today, along with my springs (thanks ausmith).
i'm sure the mounts cost them all of like $0.02 each since they order 10,000 at a time, but that's not the point. who gives things away for free these days? who lifts a finger for a stranger without getting paid? my faith in mankind has been temporarily restored.
i almost feel guilty selling the coilovers now, but since they such a sought after product, i can't pass up the opportunity to make some cash. the skunks aren't all that bad, and the different style perches don't bother me much. when i go all out and purchase koni's, you can bet they'll be surrounded by custom rate ground controls.
ground control
I had the same experience when I called Susepension techniques to get an end link replacement and when I called Tokico to ask for the little red damper adjustment thingys.
