somebody welded this on the head.... why would they weld it there and is the head still good?

 

there are numerous reasons it could have been welded. but as long as it does not affect the performance of the head, then u have nothing to worry about.... i had to re-weld a spot on my engine block no worries, just go with it

They welded it because that plug was leaking. It is not uncommon to do. It can crack if done poorly. But if it has been running like that w/o water(coolant) and oil mixing you are probably o.k.

 

kool thanx. i want to rebuild the motor that is why i asked. im hoping the head is not junk.

 

But if the car runs and everything is good then I don't see a problem with it

if it was bad...how much is it for a new head anyway...?
