just removed my power steering and i LOVE it
i bought the kit from padawan on these forums, it was very very easy to install. the removel of the old parts was not so easy. took me about 3-4 hours total but it was well worth it. the car is alot harder to turn but i can feel the power it freed up.
Mine is off since my a/c idler pulley snapped and the power steering belt got tore up so I cut it off.
I find it near impossible to turn the wheel when I'm trying to back into my spot.

I did the same thing ( cutting belt)... ended up killing the rack and having to replace the whole thing. The wheel would spin like the wheel of fortune, thank god I wasn't driving (was parking) when it happened!!!
I took the power steering belt off at the track and shaved .02 off my time.
Now part of that may have been a better run but still...

Actually, I've seen graphs posted that showed ~6+ WHP on a DC2, although the steering feel itself is indeed a matter of personal preference.
Greg - glad to hear you're happy with the kit.

look around on the forums, most people see from 6hp to 10hp. it is a very noticeable difference in my car. also i now feel more connected to the ground no more felling like im driving a hovercraft on the highways. much more precise turns. it does feel like a tank when im going under 5 mph. it also frees up tons of room.
padawans kit is a loop set up with a res as a breather. very high quality kit

Word. When im moving though I have no prob. And why did any who bought the kit to remove it buy it, seems like a waste to me. I did it w/ help in under an hour.

Around 16 lbs. on a DC2.

I had the a/c and power steerign removed on the my last gsr and i felt it actualy improved handling on the highway. All you teg owners know what im talking about, tegs can be a little too responsive at high speeds. I felt a big difference but i also removed the a/c system at the same time
A couple months ago I did it on this car, only to find it handled like poop, so I put it aback on. I was going turbo anyways and decided to keep the car as streetable as possible.

So has anyone successfully installed the G3 kit on a G2? I read in the other thread that member djay86 bought the kit, but he never posted the outcome. I'm willing to buy the kit if it'll work on a g2. Looks like an easier route than trying to find and install an EF nonpower steering rack.

I actually tried contacting him recently to see how it worked out, but he hasn't responded yet. As far as I know, he's the only one who's attempted it so far, though I have had other inquires regarding using the G3 kit on the G2.

If you want weight savings put the manual rack from a Civic in.

That's because you're still pushing around all the fluid and pressure in the rack (I assume your PS lines are still in place and you just removed the belt). The kit they speak of helps relieve that pressure.
And it's not all just about gaining horsepower. Lots of people feel there is much better feedback and road feel when there is no hydraulics assisting the steering.
