Default Water Pump

i just took my car to the deal for an oil change. After the oil change, they said my water pump is broken and leaking. I have about 33k miles on the car. They said they would fix it, but i was just curious what would cause it to break at such low mileage. thanks in advance.

could be a couple different reasons why it broke. its hard to say without looking at it.

did you have an aftermarket thermostat or anything?

if they have the timing belt out, might as well buy a new timing belt for 50 bux and have them put a new one is vs a used one

yeah i dont know what there going to do. they just told me that its leaking and about to break. hopefully they are smart and just put a new timing belt in. But acura is shady and try to cut corners, well atleast at my dealership.

did you notice coolant loss prior to this? maybe its seal.. i still don't see how waterpump would fail under normal conditions.. btw.. what test did they do or how did they find out about the leak?

if they are fixing it for free, defenitely ask them to replace the timing belt as well. Even if you have to pay for the belt.
