My mom test drove an S2000 yesterday (wanting to trade in her wrangler) and fell in love. The only part shes worried about is snow. She grew up with RWD cars but didn't want anything that handled like her old Z3.

With snow tires it will handle like a RWD car on snow tires. Not ideal, but drivable. One OEM tires its next to impossible to drive in the snow.

 

Check out xViper or PM him for his threads over at s2ki.com. He has several posts and videos in the snow.

cause its so nice. if i had one it would see rain, let alone snow and salt

 

answer: they dont handle, they barely go straight no less move. but, i guess I dont consider that to be a bad thing.

 

w/ proper snow tires, there should be no problem.
i drove the S last winter w/ Yokahoma snow tires.

Granted, if it's your only car then you don't have much choice. If it came down to having an S and driving it everyday or not having one at all so you could drive a junker in the snow, what would you choose?

Not that it much matters to me; we don't get much snow down here in Texas.

She will need set of dedicated winter tires. Stock performance tires were not ment to be driven on the snow.

 

As mentioned, with good snow tires you can get around. If your mom can afford an S2k, hopefully she can afford another beater/car for daily use..

to moms who like nice cars..

 

i wouldnt drive an s2k in the snow unless i got trapped out there with no other choice then to drive it.
