Anyone drive an s2k in the snow? and what kind of snow tires do you use? how difficult is it? any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. even any thoughts. thanx a bunch.

I'd have to agree with the beater route...the car just aint all that fun to drive in the snow...snow tires or not.

Blizzaks are tires made by Bridgestone specifically for winter/snow driving. They are the best winter tires going for a rear drive car like the S 2000.

Ideally, you'd want an extra set of stock wheels with the Blizzaks mounted so you could swap in the winter. But with stock wheels at abou $300 and a set of tires at about $500, you could also buy yourself a nice beater as someone else mentioned.

 

just go the beater route chance of wrecking the s2k in the winter would kinda blow

No need to trip, Blizzaks will get the job done.

 

Dont have the extra money for a beater and if I did I wouldnt want to pay double insurance. So Snow tires for the car was my only option. Take it slow and you will be fine. I never had any problems but leaving a little earlier.

 

Just crash ur car now and save people the time trying to get u unstuck

Anyway, I wouldn't get Blizzaks personally because of the price. I'd get the thinnest tallest most high pressure cheapest Pepboys tires you can. My 185/75/14 Cornell 535's are really good in the snow for my fwd. Just my bit of input.

 

Who are you? I lived in Winchester and if you have a s2k you should know that they dont do **** on snow. You should think b4 you let your mouth take a ****. I dont care if u started this site, that is a dumb *** question. the car is 2800lbs rwd and u want to drive it in snow??? Use your brain. Let me guess, u hang otu @ sheetz dont you? Let me know if you want to run ur car

It is everyweek! Thats why we had the one big post of where the Mods were NOT doing there job and we kept getting dumb stuff

 

I don't hang out at Sheetz a whole lot, normally just to pop in to get a Nacho Frenzy or a sub. But anyway if you don't drive like a stupid **** you can drive in any conditions. I go out to my friend's farm in Gainesboro and tear it up in my fwd Civic, so anything's doable. Just don't drive like a huge tool and you'll be fine in snow.

I guess you are not skilled enough to handle a rear wheel drive in the snow. Dont you ever think and wonder how all the people drive rear wheel drive cars in the SNOW in europe? in those tiny and narrow streets. Just like DanW said anything is doable you just have to drive very carefully. So next time you open your mouth and call people new members and despise them think about what you are saying.

i dont get you man... first you ask if its hard to drive the S in the snow then when people tell you it is, you tell them they have no skills. why dont you either listen to people who have actually experienced what its like or try it yourself before you tell people they arent skilled....... good way to get yourself flamed, not to mention its rude.

i myself have driven my S as a daily driver for over two years here in jersey and we get some terrible winters. from my experience driving the S in snow is doable depending on the amount of snow. Blizzaks help too but overall i wouldnt suggest it.....it is very difficult.

I've driven in 3 plus inches of snow on the road in the S. It wasn't fun, but it got me home. I don't go out when it snows, but I've been stuck in snowstorms with it. Drive safely, and you are fine.


Oh, and this post sucks.

 

Ive driven in huge storms with a rear wheel drive for years. But i havent driven a sport compact car like an s2000 which has lower ground clearence then most of the other rwd's ive driven in the snow. Who the heck would come around and try to flame on new members even though im not. Thats just showing how dumb someone could be. If you dont have anything to say dont say something stupid.

 

I have something to say, stop being a bitch, get a s2k, drive it in snow, put snow tires on it and when u crash it bring it to my shop like the 3 s2k drivers did last year when it snowed. They also had "snow tires" on. You are talking otu of ur *** when u tell me to kearn how to drive. Anyone on here that knows me will tell u I will out drive 99% of people. I have go to Skip Barber racing and Summit Point many of times. Can u drive your $30 in the snow, yes. Should u do it just for the hell of it or use it as a DD in the snow NO! If u tap the gas u will slide, If u hit a patch of ice u will slide. The car is very *** happy, it will come around very easy

Second dont ever ever ever in your life think you can drive better then 99% of the people on this forum. You dont know everyone on this forum to begin with.
