Default help me find a reliable beater/daily driver

Im looking to go back to school, finally. I drive a 98 gsr thats adequately modded. No way in hell I am driving it to school, Id much rather die than having anxiety attacks about my car being stolen (well not to that extent but you know what i mean). I just want to have peace of mind while im in class. Also due to the fact that the rain season is just underway.

Im looking to spend 2000$ at most.
I was considering..
oldschool (late 80's and early 90's) supras, corolla gts's, crx's, preludes, ef/eg hatchbacks, integras, and sentra se-r's

What would be the best bang for the buck in terms of reliability. Id love to own an eg hatch but 2k seems doubtful. Any suggestions?

You can probaby get a decent crx or EF hatchback.

EG if your lucky but a 2000 one might not be that reliable.

'91-'95 Civic or any Toyota Corolla or Toyota pickups.

edit - I've ragged out an early Mitsu mirage ('90) (1.5L w/ 3-spd auto tranny) and it drove fine (put 15k over 8 months). And, it was cheap as heck... $900.00 (+2 oil changes & thermostat) and I sold it for $1,200.

88-91 civic hatch aka "EF" all the way!

88-89 are the best imho (for weight and seatbelt placement).

What does this have to do with the Integra Type R?

What do you think the ITR forum is, a lifeline on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"

Sheesh.

After clicking on "Recent Topics" I was a bit excited to see that you have replied to this thread nsxtasy. I remember countless amounts of times reading your knowledgeable replies in the integra forums. I was hoping you would of had an informative essay written out for me to read comparing the cars or whatever.

I appologize for posting this here but ive posted a while back in gdd and didn't receive much of a response there. I presumed majority of R guys would have a daily driven car/beater, all I wanted was some advice. Again I am very sorry.. feel free to move this post to where it should belong.

Good link finding a nice Si hatch for under $2000. Shoot for a 88-91 hatch Dx. They run ok and will easily go well over 200K miles. They don't demand the Si price either, and changes aren't all that significant between the two.
