Default Shaky steering wheel remedy?

For the past couples months my steering has been shaking, and vibrating when doing anything over 45mph. I inspected my rims, and have had them spin balanced numerous times, and have looked over the front suspension for anything obvious that could be causing my problem and no luck. So before I take it in to have a mechanic make an attempt at solving the mystery, I'd like to know what else I should inspect, or anything you recommend trying before taking it to the dealer. Thanks.

Well Ed, I have the same problem but it is during breaking which would tell me that it is my warped rotors causing the problem. Since you have inspected the suspension and looked at the tires and those dont seem to be the problem, the only thing I can tell you that will most likely solve the problem is to take it to the dealer and have a wheel allignment done. This will most likely solve your problem since you cannot visually see any other problems.

PS
All your tires are the same size and have roughly the same tread left on them correct?

Well have had the car aligned twice in the past 6 months, the last one was done not more than 3 weeks ago, sorry for not mentioning that in my original post. And yes, all of the tires are the same size, have roughly the same amount of treadwear and I've tried rotating them. Thanks for the response.

I've tried different wheels, and no dice. I've looked over the suspension arms but now that you mention it would probably be wise to look them over again. The only problem would that its hard to tell visually if something is only slightly bent, but I'll give it a shot.

Could a bent axle play into this at all? Or any part of the drivetrain for that matter?

Thanks.

Recently I've been hearing the occasional clunk, clunk, clunk, feels almost as if something is becoming jammed.

Have you had anyone drive next to you and inspect the behavior of both front wheels? If one bounces up and down maybe it's a failed shock or loose bolt(s).

If you have LSD, maybe that is the problem. I used to have a Trans Am with LSD; one day it started clunking (mostly when the car was turning). The sound was obviously from the back. I replaced the grease in the differential with special GM LSD grease and the noise magically disappeared!! I guess the lubricating properties of the grease just broke down over time.

I double that bet... warped rotors has got to be the most common problem on Integras.

Well, my rotors are indeed toast, but I wouldn't think that would cause vibration at lower speeds, and having driven on warped rotors before the shaking I'm experiencing currently doesn't have the warped rotors feel . I know that sounds dumb but bah.

you know i have the same problem, i recently replace my right side outer tie-rod arm which was causing it to shake (lift your car and shake the wheels to tell if its that) but my car seems to shake on the left now but not all the time only at mid to high speeds.

would warped rotors cause it to shake even when not braking? (yes my wheels are balanced)

It's a balance problem. I'm almost sure.
