Suspension problem!
Okay, I've been having suspension probs...
I drive a 95 Integra LS with ground controls
I got some new 16" tires and rims a month ago. Got them mounted and balanced. Drove off happy, but shortly thereafter I noticed that the car wasn't as comfortable as before. Whenever I would brake the steering wheel would either vibrate or move from side to side. Whenever I hit a bump or something in the road, the steering wheel would shift left or right. Whenever I'm on the highway the steering wheel would vibrate when I hit certain speeds (usually 65 or 75).
I took the car back to get it balanced again and the balancing helped a little, especially with the higway issue of the steering wheels vibrating at a certain high speed, but still the car feels drives like ****. I put aftermarket shocks on this past weekend and then had the car aligned. I'm thinking that the damn problem would be fixed with the alignment. No, still have the same problems. Has anyone ever had this problem or know what I'm talking about. The only thing I can think of is the need for a camber kit.
Thanks for any help

Is it still shimmering when you brake? The rotors havely likely warped. If it swerves, then it's likely a loose bolt or something that's allowing play.
Hey Dunreit, I'm not sure what you mean by shimmering, but whenever I brake (especially at high speeds) the steering wheel (and car) will slightly vibrate or shift left and then right. Whenever I hit a bump, etc in the road, the steering wheel will move usually left or sometimes right.
OK, do you have larger sway bars? When you hit a bump on the highway, and your steering wheel pulls in that direction, that's because both sides of your car are working together as a linked suspension. The thicker the sway bar, the more you'll notice this effect.
As for the car (and steering wheel) shaking when you're braking (like the rhyme sequence there?), that indicates warped rotors. You'll need to have them resurfaced.

Oh yeah, thanks. I have a DC Sports front tower bar, and a Neuspeed rear tie bar.
The funny thing about all of this is it only happened after I put on the new tires and rims - 16" Rota slipstreams and Yokohamas.

Your larger sidewalls on your OEM 14"s probably absorbed the bumps more, that's why. The strut tower bars also link both sides of the car better, but really don't make a significant different in the handling of the car (IMO).
Maybe your car just got stiffer and or it has a loose bolt like he said, as for the vib in the steering wheel when your on the brakes: could be a warperd rotor get then cut for 10 or 20 bucks and see if that helps. also as he said
