Default What size slicks work best for you?

Hey I'm just wondering what size slicks work best for you guys. Heres my setup.....
96' DX Hatchback
98' B18C1
Skunk2 IM
CTR IC
Injen Short Ram Intake
DC 4-1 Header
ACT Maxx Extrem w/4-Puck
00' SI Tranny
98' JDM ITR ECU
NGK Plug Wires
Prothane Motor Mount Inserts
Skunk2 Coilovers m/Tokiko Blue Struts

My best times on these slicks....

20x6x14.....13.29 with a 1.8 60'
20x8x14.....13.62 with a 2.0 60'
22x8x15.....13.43 with a 1.9 60'

All runs are on race gas 110-120, and timing at about 18-20 degrees

The bigger slicks I have been using the most I just can't get my 60' time back down to a 1.8. I only hit 13.2 and 1.8 once with the the baby slicks but I know the time is right because they all match up, 60', 1/8 mile, and 1/4 mile.

Especially like to hear from you guys with a GSR in an EK, thanks!

Its obvious it seems that the smaller ones are working best for you now. I mean if you plan on doing any engine mods to the motor and making more power id say go with the 22 or possibly 23 inch slicks. Just my opinion though.

Well thanks for trying to help, but its not obvious because I only hit a 13.29 and a 1.8 60' once, i must have been perfect in the grooves or something. Other than that one run i was running 13.6-13.8.

damn you hit 13.2? thats damn good even if it was once

we have a simiar set up and my best was 13.49 w/ a 1.8 60ft

i was pulling consistant 13.50s and low 13.60s with 1.8 and 1.9 60fts.

i was using 20x6x14 slicks as well

i havent tried bigger. I think baby slicks are better because the bigger ones might be to big for you to push, i mean your times show...i guess just work on your launch to get more consistant

Maybe the 13.2 was a freak run cause that is FAST for your set up

99dx coupe on a diet
179.4whp w/ a/c

14.08@98mph w/ 2.2 60ft drag radials @ 18psi
13.49@97mph w 1.8 60ft
looking for better 60ft on street tires

Yeah I've only hit a 13.29 so almost a 13.3 once and that was the same run that I pulled a 1.8 60' and I haven't hit a 1.8 60' since. With the 22x8x15 slicks I run consistent 13.40's, but I dont have the 20x6x14's anymore and they stopped producing them. So you would figure that the 20x8x14's would work just as well if not better with the wider tire, but I couldnt hit anything better than a 13.6 with them. BTW what exactly is you setup?

94 jdm b18c (sir-g) stock internals
97 type r tranny with spoon flywheel w/ act heavy duty pressure plate/6puck
AEM ITR cai
Str 70mm tb
Port matched skunk 2 manifold
b&m fuel regulator
CTR intake cam gsr exhuast
Jdm Itr header
test pipe
greddy sp cat back
tuned with a v-afc on a stock jdm p72

you think 13.2s would be possible with my set up?

ive went neck and neck with a 13.2 second car from a roll....so i think its possible

My car weighs 2359 pounds stock w/ a full tank of gas

Weight reduction includes
Carbon hood, fully gutted back including spare tire, panels, jack, back seats, trunk carpet, false floor, sound deadoning, Metal Plates under back seats

AT THE TRACK:14 inch Civic Hybrid Rims on the rear
Took out passenger seat, Floor mats, and auto lock

probably about 150pounds removed from the car in total

Im guessing my car weighs in the 2200 pound range...not to bad for a dx coupe
During the runs i was 25 pounds heavier than what i am right now

99dx Coupe
179.4whp w/ a/c
130tq
14.08@98mph w/ 2.2 60ft w/ drag radials @ 18psi
13.49@97mph w/ 1.8 60ft
looking for better 60ft times on street tires w/ better suspension

well if u hit a 1.8 60' and ran a 13.49@97, and ur car makes 179whp, then something isnt matching up right. The launch is good, I mean a 1.8 is what I wish I could pull everytime. But the rest of the way I dunno. You should be running close to a 13.0 with a 1.8 60' and that much hp. My friends only made about 185 whp with a B20 vtec in a 97' hatch and he runs 12.6's with fucked up rings. So unless ur shifting slow I dont get it. I'm not saying that ur a bad driver or anything, I just mean if you are doing it on purpose cuz you dont wanna miss shift. Other than that I really like your setup and think you are capable of better times.

Well this time was at firebird raceway in arizon

Its a good track but definetly not the best as far as elevation is concerned

What track did you race at....was it at sea level?

You guys sound like you got a really nice track

Yeah its Woodburn Dragstip in Woodburn, Oregon. It is a really nice track. I'm not sure on the exact elevation, but I think its close to sea level. A lot of the pro guys hit there really good times here.

They're still listed in MT's site and summitracing and jeg's list them also. And I actually picked up a pair myelf, although used.

I've what worked best for m old set-up was some 20x8-14 M/T's on stock 14" steelies. Here's the set-up:
95 Civic CX, stock GSR motor and tranny, AEM GSR intake, RPS clutch, JDM header, stock ecu.
My best pass was 13.28@102.01. My best 60ft was a 1.82. The car 60ft'd between 1.85 and 1.89 and ran rite around 13.30-13.35@100-101 all the time. I tried some 22x8-13's on a couple occations but the 20x8-14's worked the best.

No the hill is not downhill at all.

You may be right about the 20x6's but I'm sure they stopped producing the 20x8's cuz the shop orders straight from MT and my friend bought the last pair that the shop could get.

I'll try the 20x8'14's again next season. I still think they should work well. Like I said I only ran them once. But I guess I'll just have to see.
