WTF IS THIS NOISE? WTF
its just to the left of where the stock airbox would be .. where hte abs unit is and the brake fluid goes in... umm i have no clue waht this noise is but it sounds like a really really loud annoying rattle / buzzz and it only does it before i start running hte car. Any ideas?
sounds to me like the ABS pump. this is normal on the newer cars, i dont know what year your car is, but it is nothing to be worried about. as your car gets older the pump will quiet down.
I have a 97 gs-r and when I start the car, sometimes I hear the buzzing noise. Even when I go over some bumps, the noise appears. I think it may be completely normal and is from the ABS system.
Mine used to be totally silent...then the ABS warning light would come on intermittently(sp?). Then a while later this buzzing would happen(mostly over pronounced bumps). The ABS still functionally worked like it always had. I had it diagnosed at the Acura dealer and they said the compressor($1100
) needed to be replaced in order to properly diagnose the system.
I removed the ABS fuses and I live with the ABS warning light.

My abs pump definitely buzzes more in colder weather...just thought I would add that. It also seems to buzz more if I am pressing on the break when I start the car (as opposed to having just the e-brake engaged).
You may want to test your ABS in an empty wet parking lot sometime. I have heard it is not a bad idea to engage the ABS every now and again to keep the fluid circulated through the system, but it could be some BS - anyone else hear of this?

I had the exact same buzzing noise coming from my ABS Pump... I don't see how anyone can say that noise is normal... Especially if you hear the noise when your driving... Well, mines started to act up after I replaced my front brakes and rotors .. After a few days the noise started and the ABS light was lite... I opened the lid of the ABS pump with the car "off" and filled it up with brake fluid (DOT 3) and the problem was solved... No more ABS light and no more of the so called 'normal' noise...
