Clutch and Flywheel question
I'm about to put in skunk2 stage 2 cams with skunk2 valve train componets with FPR and VTEC controller and get it dyno tuned. My question is since my clutch is starting to go out, would a ACT stage 2 clutch and fidanza 8 lb flywheel work good with this set-up, if not give me some ideas
thanks
thanks
Stage 2 ACT? As far as I am aware they do not have Stages. As far as the flywheel is concerned go for it, I am not too fond of aluminum for a flywheel from what I have seen first hand but there has been some people pleased with the fidanza. I would recommend the 8.8 pound ACT flywheel chromoly steel is more durable than aluminum.
I would only get a lightened flywheel if I were going to track my car some.
I think you should just stick w/ an Exedy organic; you can get the kit for like $120 on ebay, and it's a more stout stock replacement, which is all you need since the stock clutch is good for 200 ft/lb's and you won't be pushing that.

The Fidanza is awesome! Don't let anyone tell you different.
Just, get the Exedy sport organic disc it's a little beefier than stock. I have the stock replacement, and it's great but, I've also got 225 tires and sometimes they are too much for it. a couple thousand miles into it and my new clutch slips on really hard launches.

I have the ACT Extreme with a Fidanza 8lb flywheel. I love it. Revs very easy and is easy to drive with a little attention. My wife even drives it and she has never stalled.
The only negative I have noticed is if your going to down shift in to a high RPM the acceleration seems to pause for a second unless you rev match it. Which is what you should do anyway.

I have no idea what you are trying to point out there. I have a CM flywheel and exedy raceing clutch, and I have no pause in acceleration after I downshift into a lower gear. Its got way better throttle response, then when it had the stock flywheel. You might want to have your engine checked.

And, anyone that tells you that its hard to drive with a lightwieght fly.,., dont have one....Its the best Mod you can do, IMO.. Hell, they should of came stock with a 8lb fly

Maybe I do have a problem with my engine. Tell what you think.
If I'm going along in 4th at say 4K and shift into third and just dump the clutch, the engine pauses. Once the syncros match the RPM after you let out the clutch, it won't accelerate. It's not slipping because the RPM's don't go up.
As long as I give it some gas to match the RPM's and then let out the clutch without dumping it, no problems. It responds quick and pulls hard.
In nuetral the engine revs very quick. Plus I have modified my IM, TB, and head.

That depend's on how much you get it lightened
