NEED FEEDBACK ASAP ON A LS VTEC SWAP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sup everybody. In the next couple of weeks I will be going to be swaping an LS Vtec into my 91 Hacth. My setup is going to be:
- 99 LS stock bottom end
- JDM b16a1 head with 98 GSR cams
- LS Cable Tranny
- PR3 ECU chipped spoon for 4500 vtec/no redline
- CAI
- Headers/exhaust
- Fuel Pressure Regulator
So pretty much that is going to be my set up. What I want to know is with this what can I redline at safely with out falling out of my power band. Anybody correct info will be greatly apreciated. I kinda know my stuff I've done 4 b16 swaps and one h22 in a 93 accord. This is my first venture into a hybrid AKA Frankenstien swap.
Thanks for the space.

Well being that I am an expierenced driver I really don't feel that no redline will be a problem unless I hear a crap load of horror stories. What some have said is 8,000 or 8,200 but I think that by that rpm I'll fall out of my power band and it will create a problem later with my bottom end but if I can do enough research to back that up then it will be. Thanks Anybody else with helpful info?
With your stock LS bottom end, you're not doing the right thing to begin with. There's a ton of problems associated with revving the B18a/b block past the stock rev limit, but I won't bore you with that. From the dyno's I've looked at and from what I've seen/heard from other Ls/Vtec users is that most Ls/Vtecs don't make power past 8500rpm. With your stock LS block and stock Vtec head (if I remember right), I doubt you'll make power past 8000rpm, 8200rpm at the most. Look on reinforcing your block to handle repetitively high revs and you can take your Ls/Vtec solidly into the mid 8krpm's and take advantage of better cams. Hope that helps.

This will make you drop out of your powerband in each gear. I would look toward a 92-93 YS1 GSR tranny or any of the close geared JDM cable tranny's.

Well the reason why I am using the ls cable tranny is to take full advantage of the ls torque which is better. What I am going to do is raise the oil pressure so that Vtec properly crosses over in full efect at 4500 rpms then I won't fall from my power band. So It looks like it's going to be a happy 7900 reving ls vtec motor. Thanks for he info. Anybody else?
