I've thought about this one ever since I've had my swap. When I got my swap done they threw one of these on for free, but it warped so I took it off and got my oem one back.
But I think this same idea would be great for the timing belt cover. A transparent one. I've been meain to write to some companies about this, just so I could get ahold of one, but I don't really care anymore.
Heck they could already be out.
Anyways here's what I'm talkin bout.

You would have to clean it all the time. I don't think it will work. And I am sure APC has already thought of it.

cuz you know all that oil wouldnt make it hard to see or anything..

Yeah cuz oil is a great thing to see - your not gonna actually see the motor functioning cuz some oil will stick to the surface - not to mention not many types of transparent materials will hold to the heat/vibration.


As for timing belt cover - how are you gonna get the timing belt cover to stay connected ? obviously cant drill it to the valve cover - its a unique ide. - would be good if the valve cover didnt partially cover it - im assuming you mean replacing the black stock part ?

 

something that could be removed and put back on to see the timing belt and adjust cam gears would be a great idea now that i think about it. You could put it on while driving regularly, and take it off when you are on the dyno.

I guess it wouldn't be practical unless it would be under 40 dollars though.

yeh. i mean the black part. maybe have one for moon cut valve covers also where you can remove the two round holes by unscrewing them to easily adj. your gears....
