Hey guys.. I am in the process of doing an all-motor rebuild on my GSR motor. The shortblock is getting worked over right now, but I am just thinking of stuff to do to the head..
some info...
- no porting, running a real mild setup
- valve seals?
If anyone has a pic of what bad valve seals or leaking ones look like, I'd appreciate the help.. When i pulled the head off my motor there was a lot of carbon deposits on the tops of the pistons..
like so..

well u really can't see the condition of the valve seal just by look at it when its installed. Personally I would just replace them. And I think u can tell if they were leaky by pullling off the valve and see if any oil has seeped passed the stem seals.
like he said the easiest way to tell is by looking around the valve guides in the ports. if there is a cruddy build up then the are shot....they are cheap anough to replace so just do it....and take my advice...use the right tool, its a headache if you dont.
