HOW do you tell VALVE STEM GUIDE is bad???
im changing my valve stems n seals but im afraid that it might be my valve guide thats leaking oil into my combustion chamber... dont want to put in extra work after putting in everything and still having a leak..

coulda left this in your last thread lol anyway if your burning oil and your comp readings are good and HG is ok then the only other way is the valve seals. when the head is taken apart, measure the guide with an tiny bore guage to see if the guide is warped, should look like l l, if its warped it'll look like )( and your readings will show that. your seals could be hard or cracked from the valve wobbling a bit inside the guide

ok thx a bunch ^^.. ill change the valve stem and seals just incase.. dont want to take any risks.. but still need to find a machine shop in MN lol.. other then that i should be set to get to work tomorrow again

make sure your machine shop has the correct reaming specs for the internal diameter of the valves. Look up the specs for your head and make sure you give them to the machinist.
You can't just press in a new guide, it has to be the correct size internally. Also the clearance specs differ for inlet and exhaust.

does the motor puff out blue smoke on start up? this is usually the best idicator (besides pulling apart the head obviously) that the valve guides/seals are going out the door.

does not really puff out alot of smoke when i start up.. but when i rev a little or start driving then blueish smoke comes out.. i took head apart but everything is all sludged up bc of the leak.. cant tell if its the seals or guides or stems lol..
