Default What is a good short shifter to buy?

Hey, I am new to this forum... i got a 98 Civic Ex and i want to put a short shifter on it bc i hate the stupid shifter i got, its so slow... anyhow ive been looking around and ive heard of a few brands that are good... I was considering b&m pro edge or edge, forbidden or skunk 2... ive heard of the b&m shifter having problems with rattling, i used to have a shift **** that rattled and it annoyed the hell outta me so i broke it off... anyway i dont want mine to rattle... just wanted to hear your opinion and any stories so that i can get one without having to replace it like i am having to do with my suspension, not fun... oh by the way im replacing my suspension with tein ss line, cant wait til i can get it on!!

I just got a B&M...after I install it...I'll let you know if it rattles. I'm goin to get a Skunk2 Shifter and **** combo one day...this B&M is just for the intrum. I can vouvh for how the Skunk2 feels...my friend has the set in his integra...and damn it feels solid. Nice tight throws, and is weighted nicely.

well i did search around a lot and all i could find was that people said the b&m rattles... no one really said which one was good for performance.... a couple people also said that replacing the bushings is a good idea to make more positive shifts and all, they said energy suspension makes good bushings... i think im gonna get that and the skunk 2 shifter since those seem to make a good match as ive heard

b&m only rattles if people dont install extra washers to take up the space (i had one)

I have a skunk2 dual bend now and love it to death

This is the B&M that I have and it never rattled. Just installed it the way it came.

I use that with a RSX non type-s shift ****. Feels great and all my friends with different shifters including skunk2 and DC Sports said they want to sell theirs and get mine.

I also have a 98ex and the shifter was very sloppy. I installed a set of urethane shifter bushings and threw on a gsr shift ****. believe it or not, it shifts beautifully now. much quicker because the shifts are smoother and no longer sloppy. Feels very nice. Cost was just under $50 (overpaid on the gsr ****).

Even if you decide to go with an aftermarket short shifter, I highly recommend changing the shifter bushings while you are at it.
