Bads of short shifts.
Is it true a short shift will mess up your tranny? What shortshifters work best and give the shortest throw? thanks guys and girls

Hey:
I can't imagine how a short shifter would hurt your tranny (other than increased abuse because you can shift harder).
I have the B&M ripper and B&M shift improver kit. It does vibrate a little but its not noticeable with the radio on even a little bit, and the shifting is radically improved over stock. Its almost as positive of a shift feel as I got in my Mustang.
I would recommend this B&M setup to anyone.
Good Luck
Steve

my friends experience with short shifters...
when doing hard runs.. eventually they broke the top part where the **** is off
im gonna put in an obx short shifter with neuspeed shifter bushings.. see when/if i break mine

With a short-shifter, the tolerances are tighter, meaning it's easier to push/pull it to a place that's not a gear. If you're a careful/skillful shifter then it's not a problem anyway. If you're out "bangin' the gears", then having a short-shifter will mean you'll run into problems a little sooner than you would anyway.

It's my thinking that a transmission can only shift so quick. I've driven my friend's Integra with a Skunk2 short shifter, and I don't like it. I like to know for sure it's going into the right gear. Just me opinion though.

B&M, Skunk 2, and Neuspeed are the top brands right now....if you spend a little more money, you will get alot better product that will last

I *heard* C's are the best, but they are over $200. I would like some more info on the C's shifter if anyone knows anything about them.

the only damage you could do to your tranny is this
1) it speeds the syncros if you still shift as fast as you do now. the throw is shorter dont ******* try and shift as fast as humanly possible because your gonna beat the drop on your flywheel anyway. hell i am using my stock shifter w/ a lightweight flywheel and i STILL beat the rev drop on the shift.
2) if you try to powershift allllll the time. if your one of those people that like to shift hard every ******* time you will kill your transmission.
and C's is the best.
