I plan on purchasing a y8 tranny to replace my grinding dx one and need to know the code on the tranny to know I'm actually getting a ex tranny. I'm new to anything newer than 91 cause I just had CRX so cable trannies were my style. Also the y8 tranny is stronger than the z6 correct because of the steel shift fork? I was looking for both and had a z6 offered for 140 or the y8 for 175. Should I just go with the newer y8 or is there something I don't know? Thanks.

yes the y8 will have steel forks, supposedly better. I would go for that one.

 

Well I just finally got done swapping in my y8 tranny. started at 8pm and finished at 3. Nope bad for doing this completely on my own, in 30 degrees and only being kept warm by a halogen spot light. Kinda surprised myself that I actually finished it tonight by starting so late. Hopefully everything works good and I didn't forget anything that I overlooked and no extra bolts leftover so thats a good sign. Must needdddddddd sleeeeeeeppppp.

 

Also whats a P4A/A000? Is that the dx tranny? When I pulled out the old tranny it was a P4A and I was what the hell, I had a ex all along? But then notice it had P4A/A000 stamped on it? Any ideas?
