Default fuel pump install problems

I just tried replacing my fuel pump but I couldn't get the damn fuel pump out. I ended up just replacing the fuel tank straps. But in the haynes manual it says to remove the bolts that hold the pump down, but the problem is its all rusted out and I don't see any bolts anywhere. Do I have to remove something first?
Plus after I took off the tank straps it didn't seem like the tank would come off even though I was supporting it with my jack.

I have an ef std.

There are several 10mm nuts that you have to remove before pulling the pump and sending unit out. Once the tank is lowered its extremely easy.

ok, yeah I didn't totally remove the tank. I took off the straps but the tank seemed to still be hanging by something. Plus when I looked at the top of the pump, it looked different from the top of the new pump that I got (walbro). what year pump should I get? for an si? gsr?
