Default BUYING D16Z6

I'm buying this engine in about 2 weeks. The guy says its has 100,xxxkm on it and that it's been sitting for 3 years. He said one of the valves is broken but he is going to change it and put on a new headgasket. He is selling for $550 CDN. I have pictures of the engine (the insides) and I was wondering if I could get some e-mail addresses so I can send you guys the pictures and get some feedback. Thanks a lot guys.

not worth it man, for $600-$700 you can get a ZC engine with 40-70k from toronto.

Yes seriously, i was gonna drive there and buy one for my civic. its 700 i think when you pick it up, i forgot the place and what its called but hell man you can now get a B16 for 1500 with tranny, ECU and wiring, stuff in toronto is cheap, look around but dont buy that used broken engine, not worth it, for 300 you can get a D16A6, but i'd go with the ZC, its a good engine.
here is more info on it.

I'm not going B-series. I'm either rebuilding my d16a6 then putting on a vtec head, or swapping in this d16z6 or a d16y8. I need some opinions. What would be the cheapest?

id go d16z6...the head is better and more flowing design. The y8 head has smaller combustion chambers and causes higher compression, but i would rather have a better flowing head to start with and go from there...thats why i would vote z6 over y8. zc has NO aftermarket support unless you change the valve train to LS but that isnt very popluar yet and very expensive. Even tho i have always liked zc i wouldnt go for it, jsut because i know i will always want ot make it faster and there just isnt much support out there for it. NOt even cams unless you get regrinds.

My recommendation would to use z6 block and head. everything else you could figure out on your own. Y8 intake manifold, b series throttle body, zex cam, zc pistons, would be a decent all motor. and nice and light. Or ya could go the boost direction and boost for cheap...i built a junkyard turbo set up for about 700 bucks and took 2.5 seconds off my time with a d16a6. Lots of options with that motor.

D16z6 is my favorite motor
