i had a 92 VX and i swapped a GSR into it... well i gave the vx engine to a friend of mine and he has a 92 cx... well its all in and everything but it wont run right... i noticed on my car there is a black box on the firewall that vac. lines come out of it... his doesn't have that box.... does he need it or is there a way around it????...

 

inside that box its the EGR solenoid, you don't need it with the GSR swap...

and your friend will need it to pass the smog check..

 

make sure the engine is grounded. it won't start if it's not. not having the vac lines would not cause the engine to not start.

 

Yup you will need to install that control box for the EGR thats prob why it doesnt run right.. If your using the VX ECU on that motor you should get a code 12

 

Would that box cause the car to studder when on the gas? (if its not there)

He needs it - EGR stuff.

He also needs the P07 ECU and the 5-wire expensive-as-a-golden-******** wideband oxygen sensor. He will have to rewire for this to work...

 

He also has a p05 ecu runnin it.... could that be a reason why its not running well
