is a drag radial a troo street tire???
as the question asks do u consider a troo real street tire???? or somethign more in between a slick and a street tire?? i kno its DOT and u can drive them on the street but do u consider it a tire meant for reg street driving or more for track use????
People who have the money drive on them everyday.
I consider them a true street tire, so do all the sanctioning bodies.
Fastest street tire cars are all on drag radials, that ought to tell ya something.

unless you opt for the anzei sports, they're cheap and grip well.

azenis suck for drag racing, too stiff a side wall and don't last too long at all
too many people jumped on the h-t bandwagon with those tires b/c they saw someone cut a 2.1 60' if thats even accurate (lights at track can mess up)
they grip well for auto-x, but drag racers need to look elsewhere.

If the DOT says they can be run on the street, then they are street tires. I mean they have grooves in them so you can run in them in the wet. They become strictly drag tires once the tread depth gets low enough.
Hmmm... What are they called? Drag radials...
Yeah, you can drive them on the street, but hey, you can run slicks on the street, just look at the old hot-rodders... Just pray for dry weather...

I thought they were introduced in order to give a driver an advantage in racing while not bumping the car into another category.

Well theres ET drags and ET streets...ET drags are a pure slick. ET streets have like 3 grooves straight around the tire and are DOT approved! Meaning yes, they are a real street tire.

Yea, in theory...they shouldn't work well because of the stiff sidewall. But, in the real world...I've had great success with them.
They do shine in Autox though.
Funny..I've cut my 2.1s on Azenis

I know the difference between the two, the guy above said a drag radial is not a true street tire b/c it has the name "drag" in it.
those 3 little grooves don't do **** for streetability, its still a wrinkle wall slick
There are people that will roll out to the street races/cruise with em on in case of a race or drive to the track on them, but most people that have them don't drive on them everyday like alot of drag radial people.
of course theres always exceptions to what I said about the use of the tires.

if its purpose is drag racing and its got a Dot number ill drive it on the street ..hell i would ride on the street*i mean to the streetraces* with slicks if the sidewalls were stronger
et streets have a bit stiffer sidewall, but its still pretty weak, especially for a fwd car which relies on turning and driving on the same wheels.
RWD people have it easier.
