ADV TIMING /// TURNING DISTRIBUTOR?
OK, here goes... I was told that an easy way to adavance my timing was to loosen the 3 bolts that hold my distributor (I think) and turn it counter-clockwise as much as I could. Is this correct? I know someone that's done it, but I wanted to know if it was bad to do like this. Also, if I did this, how advanced would my ignition be? And will I need to run 92+ octane gas now? What about jumping the ECU thingy like in the helms book... do i need to do that? Thanks!
jump the ecu, turn the distributor,
but you should use a timing light....DO NOT turn it as far as it will go
yes, you will need to use premium gas

ok, so i should turn that thing on the left side of the engine? it's three 12mm bolts. hummm, i might go do that in a little while. why do i need a timing light if i am not doing anything other than turning that thing a little?
