well i'm sorry, but i dont give respect to a company that took a **** long time to realize that the world around them was changing, and when they finaly realized what was up, they started making ugly cars with underpowered engines, then they said, hey, lets make just a little bit more power than the average four bangers, make our already ugly car pointy, and sell it at a competetive price, ohh wait, the only way we can do that is if we cut costs, ohh well, no one needs QA anyway, we'll just put a monkey in a suit at the end of our assembly lines, those GM's will know the diffrence, they only come down here once in a blue moon anyway.

i'm sorry for the rant, but thats just the way "I" feel.

Way i see it if you wana invest the time into anycar you can make it good. and i like the look of the car just personal choice. And as for performance It seems to do well from what i have done...one of my freinds on here has been with me on a race or two.

what race? if you know what your doing, then why are u asking peeps stuff at a honda forum?

like i said, the best place to ask is in a forum designed for your car.

Because i like to see what other people think because they may have ideas that i don't think of and as for being on the honda tech forums i like hondas and i have freinds who drive them and we share the same hatred of morons who think they have a great car when all they are doing is focking it up.

this man is blind, but thats ok

if you want a wealth of technical knowledge, stick around, read the articles, and contribute

if you want to know what you can do to your car, feel free to ask, but since your car isnt a honda, i think the chances are pretty good that you wont get any real benefical feed back.

you said you wanted a chip, i dont know who makes chips for cavaliers, and getting a CAI, , thats a start.

actually we will all be treated the same, kills think cavaliers are lame peices of junk too, you have no clue what your talking about, the domestic guys in kills have real domestics with motors that have three times the litres my teg has, and not some 4 cylinder POS cavaliers

For the money you would actually invest, building a j-body just isn't wise, it costs too much to effectively modify the car to have any kind of respectable speed. Sure it can be done, but my money would be spent buying an EF, a b16a, a turbo, and some bolt-ons to free up airflow. Gut the thing and you have an easy 12 second car on drag radials that has a lot of potential for handling all for under 7 grand. Building a j-body just isn't practical if you ask me.

i'll agree with you on that, but only to a point. you would have to do a hell of a lot to make that good in my mind, but you're doing your car for you, so **** what i say. my friend's got a 95 cavi that he's been fixin up, and honestly that is the most jacked up **** ever, and not because he's done janky **** to it either. he's blown that motor up, rebuilt it pretty nicely, and it still isn't fast may i add, had it repainted, body kit, all that fun ****, and it will not stop falling apart. something little breaks at least once a week. but if you ask me, that's just because gm is about the shittiest quality company ever...but allow me to repeat myself, **** what i say, seriously.

oh, and if you want power, go buy one of those big ****** ecotec's that's already built, don't waste your time building that thing up

Funny how people talk down to the car and have no experience with them. I will share what I have done to my friends car.

Stock 2001 Z24, all he has a CAI (or thats what they call it) and a 75 shot of spray, transmission cooler, transmission intercepter (it is auto), MSD DIS-2. he ran a 13.7 at the track. The car is perfect out of the hole (that does not spin).

I will admit that it is not the best platform, but it gets the respect from me.

I would say check out http://www.j-body.org . Some people on there know what they are talking about.

i live in youngstown where everyone has a cavilier because all j-bodys are made 20 minutes away and everyone works for gm.
cavaliers suck, they are built shitty and have NO potential for speed. modded ones still run 17's i see it everytime at the track.
my advise - sell it and built something else, i dont care if its a honda, just not a cavalier. go get an old z28, they are fast and handle pretty well, better than a stock civic and are dirt cheap. with $1000 in mods you can run 12's all day.

isn't there a cav that is hella fast in the pro circuit? Yeah that's what I thought... but then that takes a lot of cash. I'm not a fan of the car, but you've got to take ema as they come..
