i have no problem doing a valve adjustment on my 2000 SiR but when i tried it on my parents 98 CRV, the rocker arm keeps on moving. please refer to the pic below



i rotated the crank to bring #1 to TDC and was about the to loosen the locknut when i noticed that the whole rocker arm labelled B in the pic moves even if the locknut hasn't been loosen yet.

i thought it was broken but someone told me that it's suppposed to move if it's a non-vtec head. if it were normal, how can i adjust the valves accurately? each time you try tightening the locknut or loosening it, it moves and i'm afraid that it might not be accurate so i didn't proceed.

is the part labelled B (in the pic) supposed to move without effort when you wiggle it with your fingers? if so, any technique on how to do valve adjustment on it to lessen the movement thus resulting in a more accurate adjustment?

any help will be appreciated.

 

I haven't had much experience with the CRV, but if it's anything like the non-vtec integra motor, those locking nuts should not move.

 

WEll here's an easy question.. do you have a writeup on how to do a valve adjustment for your b16? I need to get that done..
