Default Another Icebox vs. AEM question.....

Actually i have 2 questions....

1. I've read other posts about how the Icebox feels like it has more low-end and mid-range power and is more responsive than the AEM....
but does it have more low/mid-range and respose than the stock intake???

2. I know the AEM is crazy loud in VTEC from experience, and i know the Icebox is supoosedly quieter than the AEM....
but how does the Icebox sound before VTEC kicks in compared to the AEM????

thanks!!

1.) Dunno. Search for dyno graphs.

2.) It isn't loud at all. You still hear some induction noise. A lot louder if you use a K&N filter instead of a Comptech foam filter.

Here is the dyno graph for the GSR on the Comptech website:

Here's an excerpt from when I tested the intakes when the Icebox first came out...I actually made a very detailed post, but over time it became a little old and was deleted off of the Honda-Tech forum.

Car was bone stock, it only had ~1,500 miles on it...can't quite remember how many were on the car.

Driving impressions over stock
I noticed an improved throttle response. While driving in town while out of VTEC the car definately pulled harder throughout the RPM range, and was enjoyable to drive. The intake was barely louder that stock(unless the engine was being bogged down). With VTEC ingaged it was a blast to drive it definately pulled quite harder than stock, had a nice aggressive sound, and it did not have the annoying earpiercing sound of the AEM, it had a nice deep sound that was very fun listening to. While at idle it did not have the annoying hissing noise that the AEM has.

Conclusion
In the real world I would more than willingly purchase the Comptech Ice Box over the AEM, while driving the Ice Box appeared to have alot more useable TQ & HP throughout the RPM range. While driving in the winding mountains surrounding the Napa Valley I was able to notice a drastic difference over the AEM, the intake never failed to surprise me as I went up and down the rpm range on my 140 mile drive home from Comptech. I would highly recommend this intake to anyone looking to purchase an intake.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Here is one of the dyno plots that I posted up:

I had icebox installed on my car for 10 months;at time of intall, i hda T1R cat-back exhaust and car had about 33,000 km (not sure how many miles)

put stock back on,and car feels like it has better throttle repsone .I've had stock on for 2 months now and i like it.

IMO,stock intake is fine, just use k&n filter or Spoon (or similar) filter

Icebox or any intake will probably make more difference in other integra as opposed to ITR;ITRs already have modded intake.

i never got an answer on whether the IceBox has better low and mid range power compared to the stock set-up.
(i've only seen comments on IceBox vs. AEM low/mid in the past)
