Help Me I Need To Fix Idle On GSR Idles Ar 200rpm!!!!!!
I just built my gsr, jdm itr 11:1 comp pistons,skunk2 stage 2 cams, pnp head, skunk2 full valvetrain with high comp valves, skunk2 itr manifold, aem cam gears... the car feels good(cant punch it yet need to break in the piston rings/valvetrain...) but it idles at like 200 rpms, i seen this guy tune the idle to raise the idle a lil bit on a toyota cressida can this be done with a GSR and if so can yal help me out! the car dies when reving that low, its the only flaw that needs to be fixed !
not to sure what it could be but it would not hurt to check your throttle cable and you can always adjust the nuts that put the tension on the throttel body butterfly not sure if my words are right but you should know what im trying to say
the butterfly and the cable affects when u step on the petal, thanks man but i need to fix my idle not my throttle, my throttle works fine, when i get to a light right now i gotta barely hit the gas to raise the rpms to 1000 instead of the 200 it wants to idle at, its not that bad, but i mean its something i shouldnt have to be dogn know waht i mean
Are you using the stock GSR throttle cable? I believe its a little bit longer than the Type R (which is recommended when installing the Skunk2 IM). You may need to tighten it up.. adjust your TB idle screw.
underneath of the throttle butterfly there is a turn screw with a like a 6 or 7 mm nut....loosen it up (with the engine off) and turn it with a pair of needle nose pliers in the direction u would like to set the idle...turn slowly and u will also need to hold the throttle at wide open to access the screw ...start the car and check if its high enough...may take a few tries....then tighten when happy...good luck

ok i think i have the same problem. last week after my tune up. my car would idle at the first mark, jump to the 3rd mark then back to the first mark every second. im like wth. then my uncle adjusted the throttle so it'll idle better. now when i start up the car it idles at 1500 rpm !! but when it warms up, and im driving in the street, it idles between the first and second line. i got no idea what's wrong. this didnt actually happen after i tuned up, but instead, it happened after tune up and after i put in some arco gas. i have another half a tank to go then imma put in some shell gas to see if that's better. i hope it's the gas =P

When you first start up a car it'll idle high while it's cold to help it warm up quicker. 1,500 rpm sounds about right. Then when the engine warms up to normal operating temp it goes back to normal idle like you experienced. This is normal.
On a side note, isn't it bad to adjust the idle using the throttle cable? Thats what I always thought.

even if his throttle cable was very very loose, the only effect it would have is that he would have to move his foot a greater distance to open the throttle plate. Did the head come off the car? If it did, you probably have a vacuum problem or a sensor problem. If it didnt, it might be a cam gear off a tooth. How does the car perform?
