Low-inconsistent Idle when starting the engine
Every morning, when I first start the engine, it seemed that the engine wants to die.. idle real low...
no Check engine light though..
I will bring the car for the 15K service..
a couple weeks back, I got CEL, but then I reset it.. thinking that it should be the Fuel Cap not tight enough... CEL is gone... but the engine still idle inconsistenly, like low(under 500 RPM) and sometimes go up and down between 500-800 RPM.
what could be the cause??
VTEC and the engine still runs strong though..(after the engine warmed up)...
I checked the Spark Plug.. everything seemed ok...
this weekend, there will be an AUTOX.. OH NO!! I can't autox because of the appointment...

dunno what the problem is but my car does soemthing like that...it'll be idling at 1,100 and then all of a sudden drop down to 7-800 and idle there for a while and then go back up to 1,100 again...and i wouldnt do anyhting..headlights off, radio off, everything off...???
Yes, it will be inconsistent eventhough the engine is warmed up..
in other words, if I turn off the engine for about 5 minutes (after it fully warmed up), then I start the engine again, it will idle like this..

The engine is supposed to idle around 7-800 RPM off load (like, no fans running etc), and around 1,100 RPM when a fan, AC, or something of the like is ON. Below 700 RPM is strange, have that checked out, but the more aggressive cams and lack of insulations, etc. mean that at 700 RPM it'll vibrate the car more than your average automobile.
My R also idles funny. Well after the car has warmed up, it'll idle a little high when I come to a stop, maybe around 1100 or so, then all of the sudden just drop to 700 and sit there perfectly smooth at 700, where it should be. I've seen this on GSR's and my brother's S2000 as well, figured it was a Honda/VTEC thing. Odd. BTW, my non-VTEC 91 CRX Si never had any idle problems, even after 200,000 miles.
The TEC REC for the ITR when it first came out mentioned that idle instability is something to be expected from the car. Has to do with the bigger throttle body or something like that.

sounds like your IAC valve is screwy. take it to the dealer if you still have a warranty.
