Default Why does my 91 int has this much power with just exhaust-headers

A while back I bought a 91 int and it was totally detuned. It needed vacumes tunes up, well you get the idea. After I got thru with it and started seeing that it had new bolts in the oil pan, new racing head gaskets, and a thick gasket between the intake manifold and head, I started to realize that my engine had been opened. I checked the mounts if the whole engine had been taken out but no indication of that. I'm trying to figure why would it have new bolts and gasket on the oil pan. Some say my engine was totally rebuilt some say definately the heads been taken out and resurfaced. One thing though, that sucker runs like crazy and people swear I have v-tech wich I think is over rated cause I've smoke em.

I've not taken it to dyno. I've taken it to the track, I got 15.9 with a 869 reaction, so my brother in law did the math. He says I have to the motor about 170 give or take 3 ponies. What do you think about the engine being rebuilt. You think is BS or could it be true.

i doubt your car is making 170hp. and it should be able to hit mid 15's

1) Vtec. Period.

2) I would say that youre not making 170 whp and hitting a 15.9. That wouldnt really fit. Perhaps youre just feeling it.

I hope the best for you....perhaps someone threw some cams in there for free

huh? I have a cheap walmart phone in my apartment too, but it doesn't make my car fast.

I think it'll help if you race some decent cars like WRX, RSX-S, SRT4s, and then see how your car stacks up.

170 sounds like BS to me man cause, I got a 1st gen b16 in my 91 teg, putting down 145whp last time I dynoed it and ran 15.7 on 17's with a busted axel and a bolt missing from my A-Arm, so if you are putting down 170 you should be running way faster than my little 1.6 liter motor wouldnt ya think??? just a thought.

he did the math calculating your hp according to your 1/4 and REACTION time? and i assume youre not talking about whp.

I am gonna have to go with 130hp to the fly is what you are putting down.. just like she came from the factory.. My factory LS on hubcaps before modified ran a 15.1 at 89mph with no backseats and spare tire and I know it was all stock..

common stop bursting this guys buble
let him think he has 170hp

do you yourself a favor dont take it to the dyno and find out the horrible truth.

all you are is a great driver thats all!
is not the car this time

next time let somebody else do a 1/4 pass for you and you will see the numbers
drop.

I have a friend that does mid 15's all day on his teggy with just intake and ex.
but when somebody else drives the hit low 16's
just accept the fact you are good!!!!
